Hi there, I have just got an attic stira installed and would like to get the attic floored. Is it ok for me get the entire attic floored for storage?

Just want to check before having it done.

Thanks

Dublin3124 - I don't see any reason why not, I've floored the attic space in my current and previous houses for storage space. Just before Christmas I relaid the flooring in my attic (I have 2 rooms in my attic space so the storage area runs from end to end about 2 metres wide) with insulated boards, basically compressed chipboard with a solid insulated backing about 3 - 4 inches thick.

Might be an idea as it will increase your insulation, although it will cost quite a bit more than just using standard wood.

If you have water tanks in the attic you will need to leave the area beneath them without any floorin or insulation to avoid the possibility of freezing. You could of course have heating installed in the loft but this could be expensive.

Yes you can floor your attic no problem there are no restrictions unless you are trying to convert it to a living space, there are boards you can get for this in woodies or your local hardware store for about 13euro per m2, the price i got mine at may vary now, I have to contacts or ties to woodies.

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. I just wasnt sure how much space I had to leave around the water tank, so thanks for clearing that us.

The Insulated boards sound good but also expensive so think I will have to pass unfortunately.
