Getting a NI number

Hi all.
I just had a few questions for anyone out there that has already received their NI. Did you need a longform birth certificate?And how long were you waiting for your number?

No you don't need a birth cert. You will need ID usually a passport and confirmation of your UK address. You should receive your NI number within a couple of weeks. That's it.

I had my appointment within days. I made it over the phone. I only needed my passport and proof of address. I had my number sent out to me 2 weeks after that. It was very simple

I had a bank statement. I changed my address with my Irish bank just before I moved and got them to send me out a statement
