Gas hob removal

I was wondering what are the legalities of removing and putting in a new gas hob are, as we are putting in a new kitchen.
can any of it be a DIY job?

Is it illegal in this country for you to work on any natural gas fitting without being a registered gas installer

If you fit or remove a gas hob how are you going to test the gas line and connections??

For instance, only last week I walked into a kitchen, with a gas hob set for natural gar hooked up to a bottle of propane, was producing high amounts of
carbon monoxide, and the gas pipe was leaking at every joint....DIY.....DIYnot!
