Further education: Masters information

I've just been made redundant so I was thinking of doing a Masters since my prospects of finding a new job are looking pretty bleak.

I have an engineering degree and 3 and a half years work experience and would be interested in doing something related to Environmental engineering or renewable energy.

Can anyone tell me what's the best way of finding out what Masters Courses are on offer in Ireland and the UK?

Is it too late now for the coming year?

Just based on my own experiences with looking into courses, I found the best way to get info on what I was interested in was to go to the websites of specific colleges (for example, go to Trinitys website and look at the prospectus online) - you may find information with a google, but the most up to date course info is on the colleges website.
If youre not sure what colleges have specific departments, google is your friend. Be sure you are applying to colleges with good academic records and accreditations.

I would think it is too late to apply for the academic year 2009/2010 in most cases. Dont forget that most Masters require an academic interview also so generally the deadlines for application are before the college breaks for the summer, so they have time and staff on hand to get interviews done.

Masters can be expensive but you can check with your local authority if you are eligible for a grant to cover part or all of the fees.

You also need to look at 'can you afford to live' during the time it will take to do a full time course (on top of fees, costs for books, etc...).
