Fund Selection

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some feedback on my current fund selection on a standard PRSA.

At the moment it's split 50% Focused Managed, 20% Irish Property and 30% Irish Equity. As with a lot of these funds, it's not doing terribly well at the moment. I've still got 20 years until it matures so should I leave as is or change to something like a cash fund in the short term which will guarentee a % return?

Thanks.

If you switch now you will fix your losses. Its a long term investment, so thats what you should be looking at. It would be madness to put into a cash fund - you won;t even beat inflation that way. Though I do think you have an odd selection. 30% irish equity is a very high proportion, and 20% property high also. Maybe look at switching the Irish Equities bit by bit into global investments - not all at once - if you can switch 2-5% every 3 months it would be ideal - but depends on switching costs etc. Diversification is the key.

Investments rise and fall - but over the long term equities should still give a few % increase over and above inflation.

What managed fund is it?
