Can anyone advise if both names on the deeds have to be first time buyers or both names on the mortgage, or both?

For example, if I wasnt a FTB but my partner was and we applied for FTB status, could we get around it by putting someone else's name on the deeds e.g. my mother.
 
Short answer No, both parties to a purchase must be first time buyers to avail of first time buyers stamop duty rates. you cannot put another persons name on the deeds, the deeds registers the legal owner of the property
