I checked the temp. in the fridge-freezer and Im getting a reading of 8c in the fridge and -8 in the freezer. Those reading were taken in the morning with the thermometer left in overnight when doors were close.

The temp. control is set at max. (as in lowest temp)

Any ideas as to whether this would be a faulty stat or the motor maybe on its way out?

We had a similar problem with a fridge in a holiday home. Didn't have a thermometer but the fridge part wasn't working although the freezer section was ok. Got someone to look at it and he said it needed gas. He refilled it with gas and it worked ok for a while after that but the problem recurred and we had to replace the fridge. Getting it refilled with gas was a false economy.

We had a problem with an American style Samsung fridge where the internal fan had gotten iced up. We had to clean it out to get it working.

What type of fridge is it

Thanks for the replies folks.

The appliance is a Ingis model which is a badged Whirlpool product
