we have a uPVC 5-point french door at the back of the house. on saturday morning, the O/H came down to let the dogs out, door worked fine. locked it afterwards and thought nothing of it. next time we went to open the door, the handle turned all the way round, and won't open the catches that lock it to the other door.
we can't open the other door (left side) because the way the door is designed, the right-hand-side door has to open first. so... after removing the handle, turns out the square barrel had essentially sheared the square-ness of the receiving part of the door handle, and the internal mechanism.
now my question is as follows, is the best person to take a look at this a locksmith, or a door-and-window-installation person? will i need both?
