anyone know is the first active current account mortgage free banking or not,
two of their reps told me it was but on their website and in their brochure it says "standard fees and charges apply"
 
I would ask 'Free banking for what'??

You can't have a laser card
You can't withdraw money from abroad.
You can't view your account electronically and there are probably more 'can'ts.
Make sure you know the limitations of the account before signing up.

My partner has one of these accounts but also has to have a BOI account so he can carry out other services.
 
Have you looked at NIB's "[broken link removed]" option?

I do more and more of my banking through it, and less and less through my old BoI (deposit) a/c...
 
I have a CAM with first active for the past 6 months.
You CAN have a laser card
You CAN view you account(s) on line.
Yes there are fees, but they are standard in comparison to other financial institutions.
I have reduced my mortgage by 4 months in the past 6 months
 
OK, sorry that was a misunderstanding on my part. Apparently you can have a laser but it does not have maestro or link facility on it.
 
And there are no plans for FA to introduce Link capability.


Anyone with experience of FA Master Card payments ?
Is it correct that only options are either via giro slip or directly in the branch with a cheque ? (No cash transactions handled).
