Hi everyone!
What would you do if you knew someone was screwing system!
We have a Polish worker working for us, last Monday he looked for his P45 and he signed a letter resigning from employment. Now he has come back looking for redundancy should we give it to him since he resigned? He also never came back to work after Monday, I issued his P45 on Friday paying him his Holiday pay to date.
He would have met all the conditions for redundancy if he had asked for it.
Also now he wants me to back date his P45 a week so he can qualify for a weeks social welfare i don't think i'll do this as he never gave notice or anything.
He practically told us he gets more on social welfare and there's no point coming to work!
We have always accommodated his requests!
Also we have just found out that he is running his own business, he is working as a carpenter and also importing furniture from Poland and trying to sell it in Ireland. We found this out as he went in to a friend of ours who has a shop trying to sell them!
He is also claiming all social welfare going and is applying for free accommodation. We know he is working nearly full time hours and our friend will confirm he tried to sell him products.
Now we have very little work as alot of our former clients are ringing him for the cheaper charges-no vat, no insurance, etc.
How would i go about informing social welfare or the Revenue? I think its very unfair.
