Hi

Id appreciate it someone could point me in the right direction.

I'm totally confused on CGT and form 11.
I have some gain from shares I 2024 , in 2024 logged into Ros and payed the CGT owing.

From what I'm reading I'm supposed to also declare them in my form 11, so Ive been going through the CGT section now on my form 11, but there doesn't seem to be a location to state what I already payed.

Wondering what supposed to happen here

There are two separate requirements - payment and filing a tax return. You now need to complete a Form 11 for 2024 containing the details of the CGT disposal and details of all your income. If you are registered for income tax, meaning you are in the self assessment system, then this should be easy enough. If you aren't in self assessment then you may have to file a Form CG1 in paper. I would add that this is already late and a late filing surcharge will apply as the filing date here was 31 October 2025. See if you can file a Form 11 - don't forget that this is for income and gains.

I thought the extended date was 19th Nov for ROS filing online.

So I just add the CGT detail there on the online form and given I already payed it , that's that ?

For self-assessment, yes. But not if you're doing a standalone CG1 return rather than a Form 11 self-assessment return.

As @dublin67 touches on, are you already self-assessed and required to do a Form 11 self-assessment return?

Yes I am .

I'm just struggling what to type into it.
As I put in my dividend and interest gains I see what I owe increase.

However when I but in the CGT piece no matter what I put in the total I owe doesn't change.
I'm guessing as this is only a filing part and I've payed it already

That's because they're assessable for income tax etc. CGT is a completely different tax heading. The self-assessment form won't calculate your CGT liability because you're supposed to have already paid the amount due by the relevant CGT payment date.

When you have everything done in the capital gains page, you'll eventually come to a CGT self assessment page which should have the amount you owe and have already paid in it.
