Forgot to plant flower bulbs - is it too late now?

With a rush of blood to the head, I bought €60 worth of flower bulbs in Woodies last September. These include daffodils and tulips, along with a box of assorted bulbs. I promptly did nothing with them and they have been in the shed all winter. They should have been planted by December.

Is is too late to plant them now? Would it be better to keep them in the boxes and plant them next winter in the months specified? Or are they just fit for the bin?

Thanks for your help!

One thing I do know is that they won't survive in the original packaging until the 'proper' planting time rolls around again! (I made the same mistake a couple of years ago and the bulbs pretty much disintegrated). Unless someone here has a better idea, it might be worth planting them now anyway to see what happens.

Celtwytch is correct.... they are already programmed to bloom and they will make every effort to complete the cycle. Late as it is the best place for them is in the earth.
