Hi,
My parents are not Irish citizens. They have a saving bank account in Turkey for their life savings (they are not Turkish either). We added my name on the account recently because they were worried should anything happen to them or if they couldn't get a visa to Turkey in the Future to withdraw the money.
I'm applying for the Irish citizenship very soon. In the application I'm required to list all accounts owned by me. Will the interest earned from this account be subject to DIRT when I become an Irish citizen? I don't own the money nor benefiting from it in anyway. I only accepted to add my name on the account to help easy my parents worry. They are already paying the Turkish interest tax why should they pay the Irish one just because my name is listed.
