For how many years do First Time Buyers avail of TRS?

I can not determine if TRS is only available for the first seven years of mortgage interest repayments or the entire length of the mortgage.

I understand the below:
First Time Buyer's

• Mortgage interest relief is paid on a scaled basis for the first seven years:
• 25% tax relief in years 1 & 2
• 22.5% tax relief in years 3, 4 & 5
• 20% tax relief in years 6 & 7

• The relief is calculated on the interest part of your mortgage payment only
• Up to a limit of €20,000 for a couple / €10,000 for an individual, per year.

But using the www.mortgages.ie mortgage tax relief calculator is seems to calculate an Annual Tax Relief for every year of the mortgage?

My questions in brief – on year 8 of my mortgage do I get no mortgage tax relief?

Apologies… I didn’t look far enough down the page to see that this question has already been asked by sandrat yesterday and answered by WaterSpite!

I agree that the term "First Time Buyer" is really quite misleading.
