Fluorescent tube compared to energy saving light bulb

Am I right in thinking that a 70W fluorescent light tube uses more electricity than an energy saving light bulb which is 30W (but equivalent to 150W)?
 
Energy saving bulbs are cfl - compact flourescent lights, so they are flourescent bulbs. They're just a different shape from the flourescent strip lights.

Energy usage is measured in the watts, so a 30w cfl bulb will use 40w less than a 70w one. You would save 1 unit of electricity (kw) for every 25 hours use.
 
CFLs typically would be a bit less efficient as they are quite often looped back on themselves and therefore block their own light.
 
My Philips energy saving bulb just blew after less than 2 years. I just wonder if they’re all they’re cracked up to be.
However when I was in IKEA they were selling they’re own brand energy saving bulbs for far less than I have seen them in the republic.

CFLs are typically a rip off in this country but Homebase are doing a pack of 5 x Philips 15watt for €2.68 at moment.
