Floor Insulation Query

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if there is actually a difference between Quin Therm floor and roof PIR insulation? We have roof insulation on site, and its meant to be going into our floors! Sounds kinda wrong to me but perhaps there is no difference?

Also is there any difference between Quinn Therm and Xtra therm PIR insulation?

The short answer is yes, it's all basically the same. Roof insulation board (aka sarking board) is usually rated as having an integral vapour control feature which is academic in a floor installation, since you will/should have a seperate membrane for this anyway. There are some (very marginal) differences in the insulative values claimed between manufacturers. Your architect may have an issue with certifying flooring "grade" PIR board in rood or wall structures.
