Flogas 2 year affinity deal

My Flogas fixed dual fuel contract is about to end. They have offered a 28% off variable rate 2 year deal for dual fuel 24hr smart meter, which compared with my energypal's output seems to be the best option. Unless I'm missing something, which is why I'm posting here. Obviously their standing charges are higher, but their rates are lower, plus I get 120 credit, so that should even out the standing charge compared to others, any thoughts? Also to note, I'm looking for a 24hr rate, as I use most gas/electricity during the day.

If the Flogas rates go up - likely in 2027, you are on variable rate with fixed discount but your 28% will still apply.
I believe that a lot of Flogas loyalty discounts have dropped to 10%.

It is a two year contract, and I expect they can 'clawback' the cash back in that period if you change supplier, as well as the €50 break fee per service. That does limit your scope for savings if down the line other suppliers start offering big discounts again or fixed rate plans.

I can't think of any red flag objections just some thoughts to consider.

Is the day unit for electricity of 29.72 before or after the 28% discount, and does it include VAT?
Seems like a very good rate.

I'm in exactly the same boat. I've received the email from flogas earlier today, but I haven't had a chance to look at the numbers. I'll also be looking for another 24 hour plan as herself won't allow the washing machine or dishwasher to be run overnight.

Yes, the break fee would be 170 Euros. It is a bit of a gamble as no one can predict what the crazy men in power will do over the next few years

I think the next best plan is from Energia, which is only for 12 months. There is an annual 50 Euro difference for both standing charges between Energia and Flogas, so the 120 Euro would cover the difference for both years with an extra 20 bob to spare. The discount is better with Flogas and the Unit rates before application of any discounts are

it already includes the discount. and the rates are inclusive of VAT
Why do they do this? My utility bills show unit rates and the standing charge net of VAT and my discount is single line calculation based on the total energy charge(s), as in the OP. Simple, easily understood (by me :) ) and no sums to do.

It would be 220 euros break fee if you switched both gas and electric. My understanding is that break fee is per service.

120 claw back of cash back + 50 break fee for electricity + 50 break fee for gas.

Same here. I usually just go with whichever is the best 24 hour Standard Meter option Bonkers.ie spits out.

Hmm, as I read the email, I see they're making a different offer to me. 12 months, no cashback lower electricity unit cost, same standing charge. No mention of a closing date for their offer.

Tune to hit up energypal.

You can try the link I posted just here, it’s open to new and existing customers

If you want to sign up for the Affinity deal make sure you use the link - don't phone up as it's supposed to be a corporate plan.

Looking into it now, This deal is €15.43 worse than what they're offering me on a 1 year contract. I need to decide if the €120 credit (or €104.57 I suppose) compensates for an extra year of being tied to Flogas.

It just shows that the fixed rate I'm rolling off was a great deal. This coming year my energy costs will be 24% higher, assuming the same usage (and no increase over the 12 months).
