Hi guys,

This is my first post so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I moved into a house in 2010 and started renting my old apartment at the beginning of 2011. I am a PAYE worker. As this is my first year having to file a return I was wondering if it is necessary for me to complete a form TR1 to register with Revenue or can I simply complete the Form12 straight off? Rental profits will be approximately €900.

Also, I am aware that pre-letting expenses are not deductible but am I entitled to claim capital allowances on capital items purchased before the apartment was let? Say furniture bought in 2009 - could I claim capital allowances for the next 6 years?

Thanks in advance for any replies! :)

Form 12 will suffice and due in by 30th of October. See here for how to's and certain scenarios mentioned. Please discuss any further issues there.
