filter soft water or hard water?

I am getting a water softener in - which will soften my water by the addition of salts. Costs €750.

I have a choice to add also a separate tap which will filter my water for an extra €130. I can choose to either filter hard water or soft water but have to make this choice at time of installation. My preference is to filter hard water as it's lower sodium - but is this still going to scale up my kettle?

Right now it scales up very quickly after cleaning as the water is very hard here.

UV lamp (applies to all water) & water softener

we tap off a line of hard water after the UV filter for a hardwater tap in the kitchen. Works perfectly. Obviously we only use it for drinking and never for the kettle etc.
