Ferco door handle - ? spring repair

Hi,
Having trouble with back door Ferco 3 point lock - it won't spring back when in open position. It feels like there's a spring broken/worn out, but I can't see anything obvious when I remove the handles... further investigation would require taking off the entire brass strip on that side of the door to have a look - does anyone have any experience of doing this or should I just call out a locksmith ??

There is no spring in the handles, there is a spring in the locking mechanism where the spindle is situated which in turn brings back up the handle
