False Chimney Breast

Can anyone tell me if its easy enough to put up a false chimney breast? My sitting room doesnt have a fireplace and Id love a chimney breast to put a fire surround on and be able to wallpaper it.

Anyone know what Id need? Would good old MDF be the way to go?!

Simple stud frame and plasterboard would be the easiest and cheapest option.

+1 Leo's advice and if you have skirtings and cornices in the room consider extending them around the breast to make it look like an original feature. For the complete effect you may want to tile or brick a hearth circa 500mm deep in front of the fireplace for the width of the surround.
