Fairgreen, Portlaoise investment property purchase. Good/Bad Idea???

Thinking about buying some property in the Fairgreen,De Vesci Court area of Portlaoise.The numbers add up I'm just not sure about the area. Spoke with a Garda I met in the area and he didn't exactly put my mind at ease.
Any and all advise would be gratefully appreciated .
