Failed emissions nct

Looking for advice 08 mini failed nct on emissions mechanic has said not worth fixing but have no idea what to do any recommendations on what might need doing to even reduce it enough to pass?

Sounds about right, The burning of the oil is destroying your exhaust system. Replacing the exhaust will probably get you through the nct, but will fail again next year.

In the condition it's in now (unable to pass an NCT and burning oil) your car is worth between €1000 and €1500. The cost of fixing it will be considerable. You might consider replacing it.

As above, when a mechanic turns down money to fix something up, you can be sure the fix is going to cost more than the car is worth, perhaps a lot more.
