I am doing a Diploma in the evenings but I have two exams coming up before christmas. The company arent paying for the course but am I entitled for exam days off? Both exams are on at 7pm so its not too bad but I'll be wrecked after a days work

A full time employee is entitled to 4 working weeks holidays per year. So if you work 5 days/week, you're entitled to 20 days a year.

Lemon - does your company have any HR policies related to study/exam leave?

I doubt you are entitled to anything over and above your normal annual leave if you are taking the course off your own bat. It will probably be worth it to take the 2 days off as leave, if you have any left.

You could appeal to the better nature of your boss (if he/she has one) to allow you work a half-day or work from home on these days.

I only have 4 days left for the christmas holidays, so two more out will be a short christmas break!
I dont know how flexible they will be towards me on these days cos they arent very flexible about me doing the course as it is

Well they are under no obligation to be flexible with you about this unless your contract of employment says otherwise. At least if the course is relevant to your job and the employer could see some benefit from you doing and passing it you would have some bargaining position for time off. Otherwise you're probably depending on pure goodwill.
