Euro Changeover and Overdraft Amount

Has anyone wondered about this before? When the pound changed over to Euros, should overdraft limits have changed to reflect this. For example, should a 500 pound limit actually be a 635 euro limit now, instead of a 500 euro limit? I know you can always contact your back to have this arranged, but should it not have been done automatically by your bank, thus making sure you avoid those 4.44 referal fees.
 
Im with EBS and they changed my overdraft amount to the euro equiv. when the change over took place
