Electrician Quotation

I'm currently looking to build my own house and as it's my first time to do this I'm hoping you can offer me some advice regarding quotations.

The house plans are roughly 2000sq feet would anyone know how much it should cost for an electrician to wire the house. I've had a quick look around and I'm been told there is different prices depending on 1st fix, 2nd fix etc.

To be honest I wasn't really sure what a first or second fix was and I don't want to walk myself into difficulties would anyone be able to give me some qoutations as a guideline?

You need to make a list of all the lights , sockets, tv points, oven , hob , heating , etc for each room , anything outside & price around. It will totally depend on your list.

First fix is where they put in the cables wavins , boxes . Some electricians will do the chasing others will not .

Second fix is where they come back after the house is plasterers & put up the lights, switches sockets fuseboard etc.

About to get the house re-wired. What's the normal procedure for paying. Do you pay a certain percentage in advance and the balance on completion of re-wiring?

Also is it better getting a house alarm installed at the same time - any advantages?
