A relation is considering getting a new kitchen. Looking to get electrical work priced. Wire new hob, oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, dryer. Everything would be in new locations as new layout. Include isolator switches. Plus replace around five double sockets. Any idea what to expect, long time since he did any work of this type ?

We had an electrician working about two years ago in a similar job. He charged us €30,00 per hour. Whole electric job worked out at €450.00 approx. But the devil is in the details. You’ll need a safety certificate after,

Horses for courses, personally I want a price for all the work, not per hour as its an invitation.to potentially rip you off by dragging out the job.

Get confirmation of the price by text or email detsiling the schedule of work and critically whether its inclusive of VAT. Also let them know you're pricing the job.

In many cases the kitchen fitter will have a contact who they work with.

This might be best as they will work well together.

Doesn't seem a big job - oven with isolator and a few sockets for the other appliances. Assuming similar is there already, it's just repositioning.

Would you expect them to charge you for the quote? Do remember that they have as much work as they want and that a quote takes up time that they would otherwise be paid for.

Quoting or fielding questions from potential new customers is a necessary part and cost of business No quotes = no pipeline of future work = not so busy anymore.

Never ever been charged for a quote. Never will be either. Its part and parcel of their job.

Yea, but a verbal or texted one liner of a quote, not a breakdown of costs. Not for a small job like that anyway.
I've never got a quote for a small job like that which details the schedule of work. You tell them what you want and they tell you what it'll cost.
