Electric Ireland estimated bills

You're not going to log a meter reading every 1-2 months too? That would significantly mitigate any estimated bill discrepancies compared to actual usage.
A much simpler solution that allows you retain full control of if/when you made additional payments.

I'm pretty sure decision to get smart meters is not one the management company make in an apartment block, it's ESB Networks. My complex went smart about a year ago. It now has a mixture of old and smart as they contact each apartment individually for consent anyway, as it's not compulsory yet.

Just as a note to avoid missing the readings, my wheelie bins are in the apartment basement car-park as well as the meters so when I go down to them I take a picture of my meter every now and then so I can supply it when I'm online later.

My apartment got smart meters in the underground carpark a good while ago and when I rang up ESB about it they said they can't get the readings due to the signal or whatever. Wild.
That's very rare. In the UK they say it's 0.7% that can't connect due to building design. I suspect it's similar or even less over here.

And with smart tariffs now giving better value, it's far more attractive to look at the day/night/peak plans especially as the night rate runs through to 8am.
