John McManus had quite an interesting piece on Eddie in yesterday's Irish Times. If in fact he ends up being disqualified as a director (in relation to his association with the Tony Taylor business), would he be forced to stand down from this board?

Who are

Gillian Kelly – Consumer Representative

Marie Barry – Consumer Representative?

Re: Appointments to National Consumer Agency

All of these people have other jobs in their own rights, so how much time are they going to be giving to this new consumer agency?

The whole focus of the outcome of the report was that the consumer must be put first, so how can this be done by people who are only going to be part-time at best in the job.

I'm sorry, but am becoming more cynical by the day with all this activity supposedly in the interest of the consumer. It all appears more like jobs for the boys to me (most of the agency are the same people from the CSG originally).

Became even angrier with a recent comment by Carmel Foley saying that it would be a year to a year and a half before this new organisation would become fully functional.

What are we consumers to do in the meantime?
