Hi, having availed of dwelling house relief, and currently in the post 6 year period.
Wishing to move and sell family home, I know I can use the proceeds of sale to buy somewhere of equal value , and still remain exempt. Question is, can I purchase new property first? , then sell family home , to avoid being on the streets...
Also, can I purchase second property, holiday home for instance, while still in the 6 year period

Yes, you can purchase first. If the replacement property is less than the value of the inherited property, then you will have file a revised CAT return

The dwelling house relief will be reduced to the value of the new property, so you may be liable for extra CAT
