Dust Mites (we hope)

We're in a fairly new built house. Some bits not completely finished. To add to woes of trying to get rid of signs of builders we now have what we think are a lot of dust mites. Tiny cream 6 or 8 legged things (not sure exactly as I squash on sight and then can't tell how many legs they had). My mania with mop and bleach is not doing them in. Anyone had them? Succeeded in getting rid of them? If so how ? Tkx.

They may be Plaster Beetles. Are some of them black?
I nearly lost my mind with them in a new house once. Apparently they disappear after a while.
This has come up here before. Can't remember the thread, but have a go at searching.

They sound like silverfish to me, by your description. Have never seen them before apart from when i was living in London. I spent ages trying to figure out what they were.

From what i found out they are totally harmless but feed on paper, so beware any books that you might having lying around.

Good thing to squish on sight as being sucked up by a hoover doesn't seem to kill them, i was mortified once to still see a few of them crawling around inside the hoover.

The odd one is dark in colour. I never knew there were such things as plaster beetles - seems there's a bug for everything. I don't think they are silver fish, I've done a little research and it seems they are longer than they are wide. These are not long... I will look for previous thread. Thanks to those who replied.

Plaster mites , they are usually crawling over a new build. They seem to change colour depending on the surface . The last house I was in they were coming out from plaster joints everywhere . & were still there 10 years later when I sold the place. I used to squash them dusting / cleaning etc if you moped a floor they were gone for a few days but back again if you look close enough , the werer most noticable on timber surfaces like window boards etc.
