Hi ya ,
I am working in a restaurant /bar for the last 5 years. It is under new management for the past 18 months. When the new owners took over i ask for and got a pay rise. Nothing too great but i was happy at the time.
I am getting on well with them and the place is doing well. Now 18 months on i feel i am due another rise. Would i be right in asking for another increase in my wages ? Where do i stand if they say No ?
I am in full time employment there.
Regards

Does you contract of employment say anything about the performance/salary review process?

I assume you have no contract, apart from verbal agreement ....

Of course you are right to ask, if the bar owner says no, only option you have is to leave.

Sorry the news is not better.

Thanks for the replys,
I do not have a contract with my employer but will get him to draw up one, just for piece of mind.
How would one deal with "reviewing my wages" after a certain period of time ?

You should discuss that your wages at least should rise with inflation, as otherwise you are losing money as consumer prices increase. Then you would expect him to give you something on top of that for your increased experience and competence on the job.

Do a bit of research to see what rates you would get doing a similar job with other employers in the locality.
