my son is thinking of buying his first house and can get a mortgage of 240,000. He was thinking about a property for renovation as his Dad will help him do it up as he has the time and skills , he is looking at the older corporation areas of the town
I offered to see if any of the contributers to AAM would be able to give him a bit of guidance

he is hoping to buy and gradually over the next few years as his salary increaes buya place in Dublin any adive much appreciated

I bought in Drogheda as an investment a few years ago and have got very good capital appreciation over the last couple of years. It's a place that's improving all the time so I think there is still good potential for capital appreciation. The old corporation houses are probably not that expensive at the moment but I'm sure that will change as there's not too much new houses any more.
Good luck with your investment. (p.s. I get 800 euro per month rental for a 3 bed semi in a nice estate just outside drogheda)
