Downloaded vids image/audio not in synch. Any solutions?

I've downloaded some stuff but when I play them in windows media player or real player the audio track usually plays as normal but the pictures stall/pause. Sometimes I get picture but no sound. Is there anyhting I can do to improve performance?

Could be a codec problem. Try playing them in the VLC player, maybe?

Maybe try www.videohelp.com or as out of sync video and sound seems to be a common enough problem.

I've always used the to sort out my codec issues - once I installed their suite of codecs I never had a problem with a video or audio file again.

Seems to have done the trick. Easy even for a technophobe like me. Thanks for the other tips too but this was the easiest for me.
