Does the EU Deposit Protection Schem apply to non-residents?

So for instance as a UK resident, will my savings held in a Polish bank account be covered by the directive?

My concern sits with my bank being a Portugese operator in Poland.

There is no EU wide deposit protection scheme. Deposits are protected by each individual state.

There is a lot of talk, lately, of the potential for an EU deposit protection scheme but, as thing currently stand, there is none.

Savings in a Polish bank are covered by Polish law/Polish deposit protection. I would expect that it covers both resident and non resident accounts
