Does he need a new will?

My mother died recently. She had a joint will with my father leaving him everything. When he dies everything then goes to his children.
When my mothers portion of the will is probated is it necessary for my father to take out a new will or will the original suffice and continue.

Probably depends if the original will took into account the possibility of the mother pre-deceasing the father.
