Does GDPR apply to the data of a company?

I got a phone call just now from Ipsos/MRBI asking if I would participate in an opinion poll.

I asked them who they were doing the poll on behalf of?

They said that they could not tell me under the rules of GDPR "just as we would not disclose your data to them."

I wasn't expecting them to tell me who they were doing the poll on behalf of, but I was annoyed at that excuse.

Am I right in saying that GDPR applies to personal data only?

Brendan

You are correct and the protection in it applies only to personal data of "natural persons" not companies.

If I hear GDPR being used as an excuse for one more thing, I will go mad!! Already had an argument with my daughters school about taking photographs at the Christmas play which have been banned due to GDPR. Where on God's earth does GDPR say I can't take picture of my childs play. If you want to make it about child protection or some other reason then fair enough but stop using GDPR as a reason not to allow things.....
