Do Unleaded and Diesel fuels have any obvious difference (colour/odour)?

I have a can of fuel but I want to know if it is diesel or unleaded.

It has been lying and I do not know which it is. Is there any way I can compare it to unleaded I also have in a separate jerry can by looking at colour or it's odour etc...? Or is there no obvious difference between the two?

The thing is I'm sure it was being mixed with 2-stroke Oil and my understanding is 2-stroke oil is never mixed with Diesel. Am I correct in this assumption? So if I find out it was being mixed with 2-stroke then it is almost certainly Unleaded fuel.

any help appreciated.

there is a difference, but hard to describe in here!

two stroke is only ever mixed with petrol.

Colour not much difference.

Diesel is less volatile than petrol ad was pointed out already and has a "greasier" feel and smell.

A tiny drop of petrol in a sunlit spot or you skin will evaporate quickly; diesel will hang around much longer.
