Do I need wireless broadband to use an internet radio?

I have a broadband connection, but it's not a wireless connection, and I can receive radio station broadcasts on my PC.

I've heard recently about separate internet radios which can be used to listen to internet radio stations without the PC running, though from what I've seen they appear to require a wireless connection.

Is there a type of internet radio available which can be used without the PC running, and also without a wireless broadband connection?

For example, could the radio just plug direct into the external modem?

I'm not 100% sure on thsi - wireless would be the best option.

Does your router have RJ11 / USB inputs? if the radio has these as well, maybe it's possible...

Excluding the power socket, the external modem has three other sockets which are

a) an ethernet socket
b) a USB socket
c) the socket which connects it via a cable to the telephone socket (I think that's RJ11)

You dont need wireless, but it would be better, from the point of view of being more flexible. If you imagine a regular FM radio that you could only use in one location, then thats almost what you would get if you did not go for a wireless internet radio, in fact, you may as well just keep using your PC for internet radio.

If you dont wnat to go wireless, make sure the internet radio device you get has a LAN port. Otherwise, upgrade your existing router to a wireless one, and your flying (assuming the router will give you good coverage around the house, which in most houses is not a prob).
