I have carried out a search but cannot find anything relevant..

My car failed its NCT in Feb for a bald tire and hub caps not being removed.
So I got new tires and never bothered getting the NCT redone..

My tax and Insurance is up to date..Where do I stand legally

yes you do.
You will now have to pay the full price again of the NCT because you did not come back within 30 days. You need to have a NCT cert up to date on your windscreen otherwise you car is considered not safe.

check www.nct.ie

forget to add this paragrah taken from www.oasis.gov.ie

Compulsory car testing was introduced in Ireland in January 2000 as part of an EU Directive that makes car testing compulsory in all member states. It is an offence to drive a car that is liable for testing without displaying a National Car Testing Service disc and offenders will face fines of up to 1,500 euro

As stated in other threads, there is very little that will happen if you don't nct. The Gardai won't care, you can still tax and insure and despite what people here will say your insurnace is still good. You have to keep your car roadworthy but that does not specically mention the nct. I have it in writing from an insurnace company stating this.
