Is this the degree you are thinking of doing ?It does not seem to be accredited yet. If you already have a degree, you could consider doing the Law Conversion course offered as a postgrad by DIT, I know its popular.

You should research your options of getting into an NUI law degree such as TCD, UCD, NUI G, UCC, UL ., if you haven't already got a degree in something else. The hours in law are approx 15 a week full time and if a career in law is something you want, making the full time commitment could be worth it. Getting a training contract to be a solicitor / getting into Kings Inn is difficult, and the above degrees *may* make that more obtainable.

It all depends on your personal circumstances really.

The above course is listed as course number DT534 BA (Ord) in Law and is done on a part time basis in DIT Aungiers Street. My aim is not to become a solicitor yet but i need to have a Law Degree as i deal with a great deal of Company, Insurance and Contract issues and i deal with solicitors on a daily basis, so i would like to do a Degree as i am without one and Law will be helpful to me. I looked at the Diploma in the Kings but this one seems more attractive as it is a Degree but i would appreciate your thoughts on it.

A legal consultant with no degree or any qualification in law?

Odd........

If you must pry, i specialise in Insurance law and i am qualified to do so but i have no law qualification to deal with tort, equity, EU or criminal. But i am a deary at Insurance litigation when i am not involved in renovations.

If you specify exactly the nature of the qualifications you hold, and what you wish to obtain by pursuing a study in law you might get some more relevant advice.

Do a search on law; law courses; trainee solicitor and you will find some useful threads.

The course you outline in DIT is a good conversion course if you already hold a degree. I think a 2:2 grade is required to get into this course. You need to consider what you want from the course and whether it will advance your knowledge personally & career wise.

My own opinion is that unless you want to pursue a qualification as a barrister or solicitor, work experience may be more relavant that courses.
