Hi, I have a few bags full of very old clothes not suitable for charity shops and a really really old carpet that is also completely unusable. Does anyone know where they can be disposed? I live in Cork but all the clothes banks I know are Enable Ireland's ones which I think are only looking for items they can use. Thanks in advance!

maybe a local animal shelter might be able to use them? Or what about a garage? I've seen bales of rags (old clothes cut up) for sale in auto factors.

Thanks for your replies. I'd probably try the shelters first :)

what about the next fakey charity bag that comes in the door?

Not a great idea any unusable clothes are usually dumped illegally, so you are effectively dumping by proxy and if it can be traced back to you there could be liability

Put them in the standard clothing banks.

After these are collected, the ones suitable for re-selling are seperated from the old tat, this is then sold to a clothing merchant who shreds it and sells it for remanufacturing into cloth.

The recycling center in Blanchardstown has a section for old clothes (not suitable for re-wear) and for carpet.
