Hi all, advise needed. I was offered 6500 euros gratuity or 17.55 euros weekly (taxed) for life. Which would you take. Also social welfare says this is half of what im due and my work pays other half. But ive never heard of this, is anyone gone through similar.

The only reference to "half-rate" disablement benefit in the operational guidelines is for civil servants paying PRSI class B. I can't see any other reference. You should contact the section dealing with your claim to explain exactly what they mean, if you are not a civil servant.

Gratuity v pension will depend on your personal financial circumstances and what other income you may have.

For what it's worth, €6,500 is the equivalent of €17.44 p.w. for c. 7 years (in nominal terms - i.e. ignoring inflation).
