First of all apologies for asking such question, I thought I have basic tax knowledge.

After 6 months of filling my tax return for 2025, I finally got my SOL. The part confusing me is, I declared EU Deposit interest received as income and it’s taxed as 33% which is fine. Its interest income from Trade Republic which is not taxed as source

But the DIRT amount I need to pay as tax is also displayed under Tax Credits section on the next page under Panel 4; together with Medical Insurance Relief and Personal Tax credits and employee tax credits. As tax credits section is for decreasing the taxes you owe, I’m kinda confused why DIRT is listed there?

It feels like DIRT I owe is treated as tax credit instead of income? Am I missing something?

Your deposit interest was not taxed at source.
Therefore as you did not have tax deducted you do not claim the credit.

However some deposit interest is taxed at source.
Therefore it is necessary to enter the dirt deducted at source and claim it as a credit.

Thank you, that was the case. Either I did a mistake, or that bit of the form changed because I don't remember 2 separate fields for DIRT deducted and not deducted interest income amount (also asking for number of deposit accounts)

The interest rate was indeed in the DIRT deducted amount hence I didn't pay any DIRT. Fixed it and now should be good.

Any way you could screenshot the corrected entries and share (block out the figs) I will have to fill out this piece shortly and would be good to follow a correct path
