Direct DEbit to a Sterling Account

Is it possible to DD money from a Euro Account to a Sterling account within the same bank (e.g. BOI)?

Are there any charges?

The reason is, that my wife works in Ireland but lives in Northern Ireland, and needs to transfer money to cover monthly bills.

Can this be done without too much hastle?

I attempted to set up a DD from Irish account this to pay off a Student Loan in the UK, but I was informed by AIB that it was not possible

Give your bank a call, should be easy enough for them to answer "yay or nay"
 
I have a Direct Debit set up form my credit card (AIB Visa) to pay my phone bill. I cannot think of any reason why you should not be able do the same to pay your UK bills. Plus it is probably the cheapest way around the currency charges
