different surname on passport

Hi there,

I am so sorry if this has been asked numerous times. So I have not changed my surname after I got married but I did change
my passport to my married name. I was so excited as everything was going so well, the app worked, then they sent me message
to say details are different. How do I get over this.

I just found old threads about it, I can ring them up, thanks so much to everybody for helping us all.
 
You get a reply back on the website that the details are different to what they have on file for you. This is after you scan passport etc
 
I just presumed that they were referring to the UK DWP site in the context of trying to claim UK pension rights as somebody who worked there in the past?
 
Sorry to bother you all again, I wrote to HM revenue enclosing copy of my marriage cert to HM Benlon Park Newcastle, 3 weeks ago and tried the app again today hoping they would have updated my records but couldn't continue as their records show a different name. Does anybody have any idea is there a number I can ring to see if they even received the letter. thanks so much.
 
I am trying to qualify for uk pension state bonanza, am I not in the correct thread/forum, thought I was. If you apply with
your maiden name and your passport has your married name you can't continue after you have taken picture of passport
myself etc I phoned them and they said write in with marriage cert attached but that was three weeks ago. Im just looking
for confirmation from somebody with a similar situation if it all worked out for them.
 
Thanks DannyBoyD, will do that tomorrow, should have done that ages ago instead of wasting time trying to register. Only a month to go now, hopefully will get sorted.
 
I had same issue and posted off forms few weeks ago. Last week I did eventually get through in this number 0044 300 200 3500 and they updated my details . Tried online a few days later and it worked first time . At least I can now see my forecast, that they have received my form and don’t expect a reply until April 2026. I would advice to call the number at 8am as soon as it opens.
 
Thanks Dash18. I did get a lady on the phone and she said you have to write in as they dont discuss it over the phone, Although
I had heard of it being changed on the phone for people and you too. Perhaps I was just unlucky with that particular person.
 
I had that experience the first time I got through- thought it was just me. Rang back 2 days later and it was all done in a 2 minute call.
