I have got an email in Outlook Express with Subject "Delivery Status Notification (failure)" from "postmaster @ holyblossom . org" with the following text:

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

dublinadublin@holyblossom.org"

but I've never heard of them, let alone emailed them.
Is this just some sort of spam or is there something funny going on with my computer?

I wouldn't worry about it - I get this quite frequently. The issue is more likely to be with a PC other than your own.

I've received a few of these messages in the recent past - is there any danger in opening the message itself (i.e would it carry a virus within it)? I am a recent convert to Mailwasher (thanks to AAM!), so tend to delete things that look a bit off.

If you're getting a few of these, chances are someone (somebot) is spoofing your email address on spam they are sending.

Thanks Leo, I've seen a spam or two which purports to come from me so somebot has grabbed my account name!

Luckily for me it's just the 1 to date, but what should someone do if they are getting a lot of them?

Change your e-mail address.

Once you get on one spam list, it's only a matter of time before the spammer wil trade yours with others and you'll get more and more. So, once you get more than one or two a day, it's time to move.

E-mail is rapidly going out of fashion because of this. I do far more social stuff in IM now.

Sure, but IM has numerous drawbacks so will never replace email.
