A nephew is trying to buy a few FTSE shares on Degiro but the fee is coming back over €20 for a €200 purchase. Is this correct for a FTSE stock ? I thought Degiro were €3.90 per trade plus €1 handling fee ?

How many different shares are being purchased?
Doesn't the trade give a breakdown of the fees at "checkout" time?

Stamp duty is 1% on the purchase of Irish shares.

I believe it's 0.5% in the UK? Mind you, that would be just a euro.

Just one share FTSE 100 listed, around 80 shares. Amount around €194. So if he had €200 I thought it would cover. Is there another fee I’m not thinking of. I tried buying the same on Davy and it came in at €207 but their commission is €13.

It might be that he hasn't enough in the account to cover the transaction. There is usually a certain margin above the transaction value needed before it is allowed. He should try a smaller transaction to see if it is acceptable. The correct fee should then be shown.
