Decent budget camcorder for €100?

Excuse my ignorance - what is advantage of going with a HD camcorder?

Not too sure pink lady,I presume its better quality than standard definition.I ordered the zi8 on amazon yesterday,its got good reviews here and other sites.It'll keep the girlfriend happy for Christmas!I got an 8gb class 10 SDHC on ebay for just over €10 also.

Do you think it's suitable for taking videos of kids? Our expensive complicated one is kaput and I want a simple machine to just do that, use point and shoot and nothing else.
