We sold our home in Feb 2016 through Voluntary Assisted Surrender. The difference between the sale price and amount owed on mortgage was totally written off. We have other debts with were sold from AIB to Cabot and pay a minimum amount on these. We are now renting and our rent is more than a mortgage repayment. I was just wondering would any bank or mortgage company ever give us a mortgage again. We are looking for a mortgage of about €120,000 and would hope to have a deposit of €20,000.

Have you requested a copy of your ICB record? That will tell you what your credit rating looks like.

What do you mean paying the minimum amount? Have you an agreed term for when the loan will be paid off? If you are only paying a token amount each month, a bank will not lend you money if you are unable to pay your current debts.

What is your combined income? Do you have kids to support as well? You have to have a minimum amount of disposable income after paying debts.
